Osteopathy

Osteopathic Manual Therapy works from the tenant that the body is a dynamic unit of function that works best when all systems are in alignment. Osteopathy focuses on identifying and addressing the root cause of pain and immobility. Osteopathy is strongly rooted in functional anatomy, physiology and human mechanics.

Erin is a classically trained manual osteopathic practitioner having graduated from the Canadian Academy of Osteopathy with a Masters diploma in Osteopathic Manual Manipulative Sciences. Prior to her education in osteopathy, Erin attended Saint Francis Xavier University where she obtained a Bachelor of Science degree with a major in Kinesiology and minor in health sciences, graduating with first class honours.

A proud East Coaster, it has always been important to Erin to contribute to providing accessible, quality healthcare and health education to communities in Nova Scotia. Following completion of her undergraduate degree and prior to beginning her studies in osteopathy, Erin taught the lab component of the course Human Anatomy and Physio at StFX to nursing, human nutrition, and kinesiology students. Erin maintains her love of teaching by educating patients about the remarkable healing capacity of their bodies and how osteopathy can help to facilitate this healing process towards health.

Born and raised in Truro, Erin is now practicing osteopathy in Truro Massage Therapy Clinic as well as Atlantic Coast Osteopathy in Bedford. In her spare time, Erin enjoys playing music, being active, and spending time outdoors with her partner and two dogs.

Teya is a classically trained Osteopathic Manual Practitioner. She obtained her Masters in Osteopathic Manipulative Sciences from the Canadian Academy of Osteopathy and is a licensed board certified member with the Ontario Osteopathic Association (OSTCAN).

Teya had always been drawn to nutrition, fitness, and human behaviour, which led her to pursue an undergraduate education in the field of health. In 2011, she graduated with honours in Health Science and Psychology from Western University. During this time she gained experience working in rehabilitative clinical settings, personal training, and was involved with developing and implementing health promotion programs. This experience, along side her own personal struggle with injuries, led her to explore different modalities of treatment. She immediately had an affinity for Osteopathy’s holistic approach, and how it enables the body to heal itself.

She graduated from The Canadian Academy of Osteopathy in 2016. There, she gained a deep understanding of osteopathic principles and more extensive knowledge on mechanics, anatomy, and physiology of the human body. Most importantly her education equipped her with problem-solving skills required to successfully treat a diverse range of musculoskeletal and physiological problems.

Teya gets great satisfaction improving the health and well-being of patients suffering from both acute and chronic issues. She has experience and enjoys working with all age groups. Her focus now has become furthering her training in paediatrics and peri/postnatal care. She is continually striving to expand her knowledge in the field by regularly attending industry training.

In her spare time, Teya enjoys traveling and being outdoors hiking with her husband and young son.
